33. Veteran’s Day is actually “Tip and Tract Day”

Business people, love all over us veterans on Veteran’s Day. From a business perspective, they are trying to build brand equity and create a behavioral path, so we start coming to their stores on a regular basis (sorry old business professor insights).

I love that, but I have an ulterior methodology on Veteran’s Day. On Veteran’s Day morning, I go to the bank to get cash for tips. I recommend that when you share the Gospel, and leave a tract, then you should tip big (more than usual = 20% or more). If you are sharing a meal with your spouse, keep in mind your server is serving 2 people instead of one, so tip like it is a full meal for each person. If you leave cash (I recommend leaving cash), leave cash tips with a tract so they know it was from a person who shared Christ with them.

My VETERAN’S DAY involves at least 3 or 4 stops for coffee or food on Veteran’s Day. These merchants are loving on me, so I say, “I’m asking for a favor. As you can see, I’m leaving you a very good tip, because you are absolutely worth it! I’ve shared the Gospel with you, and I’m asking you to give the other employees one of my $1,000,000 tracts.”

People love tracts because it looks like a $1,000,000 dollar bill. Since our culture is driven by money, they love the novelty of this tract. Judy and I gave quite a few millions away (they are 5 cents each, so they are not going to break the bank). We had a blast, in Jesus’ name.

Luke 6:31 NLT “31 Do to others as you would like them to do to you.”
