32. Shake the dust off of your feet and go to the next town

Never take it personally when someone brushes you off or starts avoiding you because they know what you are doing. I love that because it gets them thinking. In a culture where 90% of the people let “other people” do their thinking for them, you would expect such a response. Your goal is to disturb a person’s irrational absolutes.

If we had no media, no entertainment, no time for frequenting restaurants or shopping, people would likely have more willingness to interact. Our society is pumping information to us 24/7, and there is very little time to think things through. You often see families sitting somewhere, and each family member is on their phone. What a shame! Imagine living where all we had was a Bible and time with people. What a joy that would be. Curiosity would become a normal and quite a natural phenomenon.

One thing that made my life in the university (working alongside intelligent people) wonderful was that most of my colleagues seemed to have a heightened sense of curiosity. I’ve asked many of my colleagues how they can know so much. The most common reply is “curiosity.”

In sharing Christ Jesus, help people to become curious about the afterlife, about the meaning of life, and about the impossibility of something coming from nothing. The topic of intelligent design tends to get the attention of curious people, so now that you have their intellect, use the Commandments to address the moral issues of their hearts. When you do, you will make headway and plant some very good seed!

Matthew 10:14-16 KJV “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.”
