30. Pray over everything you do…

especially the tracts, because they often have the ability to take the place of men.

From Charles Spurgeon’s sermon, “A Call to Worship”: “The condition of the church may be very accurately gauged by its prayer meetings. So is the prayer meeting a grace-ometer, and from it we may judge of the amount of divine working among a people. If God be near a church, it must pray. And if he be not there, one of the first tokens of his absence will be a slothfulness in prayer.”

One thing I’ve learned that is so helpful for me, is that my most effective praying involves listening. I’m often up late at night…usually between 3am and 5am. Normally, a large portion of that time is agreeing with God about lost people, our country, our world, and so on. My son said that timeframe is called 3rd watch. I’d like to think many are called to pray in the night—the distractions are very minimal.

Psalm 91:1-2 NIV “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”
